'The Abomination'

This top was named by the co-creator of it, Anna Pentland. It was originally the test subject for a project, where she was making several tops with the logo of The Mechanisms band in bleach.
Unfortunately, she hadn't mastered control over the stroke width yet, so this top turned out considerably worse than any of the other tops. She then used the top as a test fabric for brush strokes, before I managed to lay claim to it.
She did offer me a more successful top, but I insisted on taking this one. I asked her to add even more brush strokes across the front and back to match the test strokes while I worked out what I was going to do with it.
I altered this top around the same time I was having a lot of fun making necklaces, earrings and trouser chains. I wanted to combine my jewelry making with my sewing.
I started by cutting the bottom off asymetrically, and rolling both the bottom hem and sleeves up, binding them in place with gold chains.
I then cut two long slits into the front of the top, and bordered them with a blanket stitch in an off-white thread to match the colour of the bleach design.
I then sewed some flat, dull gold, coin-like charms along the edges of the slits, joining them together.
